The Dolby Atmos Touring Idea
Dolby Atmos is one of the coolest ways to hear music. But only a few nightclubs in the world have it. Home theater systems are also sold but you really need a good speaker system to make it work. Since, here at Clik Entertainment, we have high quality speakers and a lot of them, I wanted to see if we could make such a system and bring it to events.
Dolby Atmos offers a visualizer but I have my reservations about it. It’s still using 2 speakers and is simply panning elements side to side. To me, it’s not that impressive but feel free to try it out.
After a bit of research, the Anthem AVM 70 – 15.2 Pre-Amplifier/Processor makes Dolby Atmos possible with our systems. Although it is meant for home theater use, it has XLR outputs allowing for routing and further processing which may be needed depending on distances. The receiver does all the processing for Dolby Atmos and it can be fed a digital signal from any Pioneer mixer setup. With a $15K price tag, it better do a lot.
You should know that this idea isn’t complete or full-proof but was enough of a start for me. If you’re interested in an Adobe Atmos system at your next event, contact us. I’d be happy to dive into this further.
